Phil Whitehead is a consultant with the International School of Florence, Italy, as the Director Learning & Research. In this role, he is leading research and professional learning, while also implementing a new appraisal scheme. He previously held this role full time, alongside Acting Secondary Principal and is a member of the school’s senior leadership team.

Phil holds a BEd, an MEd and a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring. He has been working with international schools since 1998 and has held two primary and middle school headships in the UK, worked as a local authority schools’ advisor and served ten years as an Ofsted inspector. He has also been associated with a leading UK university at various levels including as Head of the School of Education.

Phil is involved with multiple educational and arts consultancy projects, including recruitment for an international school. His writings have been published in the educational series, The Treasure Within, part of an Erasmus Project running over 4 years.
